This simple and quick in-office test provides a painless and non-invasive method for evaluating zinc status in the body. Approximately 10ml of the Zinc Tally solution are placed in the mouth and swished around for a short period of time. A lack of taste or a delayed perception of taste are indicative of a potential zinc insufficiency. Conversely, an immediate perception of taste is indicative of adequate zinc status.
Zinc deficiency is associated with numerous conditions such as: malabsorption syndromes, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic kidney disease and chronic liver disease. This list is by no means exhaustive.
Zinc deficiency is also linked to symptoms of low immunity, diarrhea, allergies (both food and environmental) and dermatological disorders such as eczema, acne and psoriasis.
This test is conducted as part of a complaint oriented physical exam.
